Our mission is enriching lives through adaptive recreation.

“Our son, Ethan, has cerebral palsy, low muscle tone, left-sided weakness, and other disabilities. HCAS has meant so much to our family in the short time we have participated. It has reminded us of Ethan’s untapped potential. His capabilities sometimes exceed our imagination and having the right people in place at HCAS to help us see that has been such a game-changer. We would not have even considered some of these sports without the help of HCAS.”

“As a parent, it is incredibly heartening to see our son enjoy life at a different level because of the opportunities HCAS provides.  Our hope is that skiing, kayaking, or rock climbing will be a gateway into life in the greater community and that he will be able to socialize and live a full and active life. We are so thankful for all of you and the programs you run for those with disabilities.”

“My name is Emma Thorell and I have Cerebral Palsy. I found HCAS in 2021 and have since had the chance to try kayaking and rock climbing, and will try adaptive skiing this winter. It means so much that I have found HCAS. It gives me the opportunity to be active and try new things despite my physical challenges.”

WE ARE PIONEERS OF PUSHING BOUNDARIES

Our vision is a world where all barriers to inclusive recreation are removed, and where independence and community are facilitated through accessible recreation.

At HCAS, our staff and volunteers believe in making adventure accessible. We seek to create a community where everyone can enjoy the best Arizona has to offer. We don’t just teach you how to ski, bike, climb or kayak. Rather, we invite you to enjoy an active and healthy lifestyle in a way that works for you.

OUR MISSION IN ACTION

There’s nothing as rewarding as seeing our mission come to life through our summer and winter programs. Our participants light up when they get to experience the great outdoors in ways that they didn’t think were possible. Check out some of our favorite clips and see first-hand how adaptive recreation can impact lives.
